La Sangria Rouge de l’Orpailleur : un rafraîchissant cocktail d’été

L'Orpailleur Red Sangria: A Refreshing Summer Cocktail

Summer in Quebec is synonymous with patios, sunshine, and… sangria! But not just any sangria. For your next barbecues or afternoons by the pool, we offer a signature version, made with the pride of our region.

Discover how to prepare L'Orpailleur's Red Sangria, a beautiful blend of our classic Red Wine and Marquise, our fortified aperitif wine.

Why is this recipe unique?

Unlike classic recipes, the addition of Marquise de l'Orpailleur brings a fruity complexity and a floral touch that transforms this cocktail into a true tasting experience.

Ingredients (Serves approximately 8):

The base:

  • 1 bottle (750 ml) of L’Orpailleur classic Red Wine
  • 80 ml of L’Orpailleur Marquise (our rosé aperitif wine)

Fresh fruit:

  • ½ orange (sliced)
  • ½ yellow lemon (thinly sliced)
  • ½ Granny Smith apple (diced for crunch)

The final touch:

  • 2 tbsp raw sugar (or 30 ml simple syrup)
  • 150 to 200 ml sparkling water (for bubbles)
  • 100 to 150 ml cold lemon soda
  • Plenty of ice cubes
  • Optional: A few fresh mint leaves for fragrance.

Preparation:

  1. Fruit infusion: In a large pitcher, place the fruit and sugar. Lightly crush with a wooden spoon to release natural aromas.
  2. The winemaker's secret: Pour in the Marquise, mix, and let stand for 10 to 15 minutes. This allows the fruit to absorb the aperitif.
  3. The blend: Add the red wine and stir gently.
  4. Rest (crucial!): Refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours. Tip: For a burst of flavors, prepare it the day before!
  5. Serving: Just before serving, add sparkling water and lemonade. Serve in large glasses filled with ice cubes.

L'Orpailleur's tip

For an impeccable presentation, garnish each glass with a fresh mint sprig and an extra citrus slice.
